Day 1: Arrive in Doolin
Arrive in Doolin – well known for its Traditional Irish Music. You will stay two nights in this lovely little place, nestled at the base of the famous Cliffs of Moher. On arrival – you will be given your Information Pack containing all your Route Notes and maps. Today you have the option to walk from your accommodation to the top of the magnificent Cliffs of Moher. On arrival to the Visitor Center at the Cliffs – you will telephone for your taxi to collect you and return you to Doolin for your overnight. There is a lovely selection of restaurants and pubs to eat locally.
Hike Details: Distance: 9kms. Duration: 3 hours. Max. Height: 200m. Some road walking, with muddy and rocky grass tracks also but all good conditions underfoot. Boots essential. Walking close to an exposed cliff edge on a recognised and way-marked route.
Day 2: Burren Way to Ballinalacken Castle
Today you will be driven to Ballyvaughan where you begin walking just outside this lovely village. From there, you hike over the beautiful “Cathair an Ard Rios” and descend into the Caher Valley. From there your hike continues along the Burren Way to reach the impressive Ballinalacken Castle. From here you can telephone your taxi for collection and return to your accommodation in Doolin for your second overnight.

Day 3: Doolin Pier to Inishmor Island
From Doolin – you will be driven to Doolin Pier with your luggage. From here you will take a ferry to Inishmor Island – the largest of the famous and inspiring Aran Islands. On arrival, you will leave your luggage with your accommodation before setting out on your walk. From your accommodation you will follow your Route Notes to the impressive Dun Ducathair – an ancient ring fort with a wonderful setting. Returning to your accommodation you will be staying on the island for two nights.

Day 4: Dun Aenghus Promontory Fort
Walking from your accommodation, today you will be walking to the famous Dun Aenghus Promontory Fort. This impressive cliff-top fortress dates back to the Iron Age and is an amazing place to see. From there you can continue a circuit to finish back at your accommodation. There is an option if you wish today, to hire bicycles (at your own cost) and cycle most of your route instead of walking.

Day 5: Mam Ean - the Way of the Birds - to Lough Inagh
Transfer by the morning ferry from Inish Mor back to the mainland at Rossaveel in County Galway. From here you will be collected with your luggage and brought to the start of your walk at Maam. Setting out on your route today – you follow a wonderful old Pilgrim trail known as Mam Ean – the Way of the Birds. Walking right to the door of your accommodation – you enjoy your next two nights overlooking the beautiful Lough Inagh in this wonderfully remote place.
Hike Details: Distance: 9kms. Duration: 4 hours. Max. Height: 300m. Country lanes, grass tracks and road walking with a section over open mountain with loose stones & uneven surfaces. Boots essential.
Day 6: Killary Harbour and an Famine Road
You will be transferred to the start of your walk at a lovely pier known as Rossroe. From here you will be walking east from the coast along the shores of Killary Harbour – a wonderful and most impressive fjord. This route follows an old famine road and you will also have the opportunity to see a deserted village here and lazy beds. At the end of your route you will be able to telephone your accommodation for collection as you return for your last overnight.

Day 7: Depart
Your accommodation will arrange for you to be driven to the village of Recess. From here you can take the local public bus to Galway City and link with bus and train routes to all locations in Ireland from here.
